The Ottawa Valley Music Festival is a non-profit charitable corporation which promotes the appreciation of classical music by presenting a series of classical music concerts from April to September each year throughout the Ottawa Valley. The OVMF Concert Series has been presented since 1996 and features the Festival Chorus supported by a professional orchestra and soloists. The Chorus comprises dedicated, music-loving volunteers who under the direction of Artistic Director, Mervin Fick, work together to attain a high level of professionalism and excellence. The choir has enjoyed membership of as many as 90 voices in its early seasons and has now evolved into an ensemble of between 30 and 50 singers for its various performances. Chorus members come together from the many communities of the Ottawa Valley and beyond; our performance season extends from first rehearsals in February to our final Christmas concert at the end of November. In addition to the Concert Series, the Chorus presents special concerts at various times throughout the year, including the favourite Festival Christmas Concert. In recent seasons the Chorus has seen sold out audiences for such large choral works as:
As well as for less familiar choral repertoire such as:
